Glass Sun Catcher - White Horse Of Uffington
Beautiful handmade glass sun catcher in green with gold etched design.
This piece is based on the chalk hill figure carved into the hillside of the historical Berkshire Downs (now within the boundary of Oxfordshire).
The white horse of Uffington is the oldest chalk horse figure in Britain by approximately 3000 years. Its meaning has long been debated, as to whether it is a horse, a dog or even a dragon, though is similar in design to horses on pre-roman British coinage.
The image has been etched onto glass, then coloured, before being set in a lead came surround and polished.
